REWIRE – Next Generation of Semiconductors Report – 18 November 2025

REWIRE Showcase, University of Warwick

This Showcase was organised by the REWIRE Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC), www.rewire-ikc.org, an £11M UKRI supported project which is being run through a collaboration between the Universities of Bristol, Cambridge and Warwick. REWIRE is dedicated to pioneering next-generation semiconductor technologies and power electronic devices to help the UK achieve its net-zero ambitions.

The Showcase encompassed a review of the results achieved to date and the highlights included:

• Development of Ga2O3 devices and packaging
• High Voltage vertical GaN device demonstration
• Need for high density power supplies for Data Centre applications
• Improvements in oxide deposition methods for SiC device fabrication
• High voltage superjunction MOSFET (3.3kV) and IGBT/Thyristor (>6.5kV) development
• Liquid metal die attach for power module assembly
• Sandwich ceramic substrates for reduced parasitics
