IMAPS-UK Academic Conference, London: Thursday 19 June 2025

The Inaugural IMAPS-UK Academic Conference on Innovations and Solutions in Micro-Electronics Packaging and Assembly will be an In Person Event held on Thursday 19th June 2025 at the London Institute of Healthcare Engineering, London, SE1 7EH

The Inaugural IMAPS-UK Academic Conference aims to create and foster a research and development community focusing on Innovations and Solutions in Micro-Electronics Packaging and Assembly. This in-person Conference combines invited Keynotes, Presentations and Posters from leading Academics, Industrial Companies and Research Institutions to highlight advances in micro-electronics assembly and the challenges faced in transferring research and development outcomes to successful industrial implementation.

The Conference programme will feature:

• Keynote Presentations from IMEC and Custom Interconnect
• Academic/Industry Collaborative Research projects (REWIRE and INTERPOSE UK)
• Research and Development on Interconnect Reliability from King’s College London and the University of Warwick
• Case Studies from BSL and KLA on Transferring from Academia to Industry
• The R&D pipeline from Imperial College on implantable electronics, the University of Surrey on biocompatible X-Ray detectors, STFC – RAL on Indium Bump Bonding, King’s College London on Hermeticity Testing and Buckinghamshire New University on Reliability of Solder Interconnects

IMAPS-UK is pleased to offer a Showcase Opportunity to up to 6 IMAPS-UK Corporate Members, on a first registered basis for raising awareness of the capabilities of their organisation and the future acquisition of talent from the academic microelectronics community

Call for Poster Abstracts from Students and Recent Graduates

There is an opportunity to submit Abstracts from Students and Recent Graduates describing latest research in microelectronics assembly and packaging processes with awards of up to £450 available for the Best Poster Presentation.

Abstracts can still be submitted until Friday 30th May 2025.

Travel Fund for PhD and Undergraduate Students – Open for Application

The IMAPS-UK organising team is pleased to announce that some funds are available to support economy rail travel costs for UK-based PhD and Undergraduate students attending the IMAPS-UK Academic Conference 2025, subject to an eligible case being submitted by PhD and Undergraduate Supervisors. The Supervisor will need to e-mail the IMAPS-UK Office to confirm that their student does not have access to institutional funds to cover travel costs. Applications will be responded to as soon as possible.

Training Workshop on Introduction to Wire Bonding – Wednesday 18 June 2025 at London Institute of Healthcare Engineering

IMAPS-UK is organising a full-day Training Workshop before the Academic Conference on Introduction to Wire Bonding to provide an introductory theoretical understanding and practical hands-on experience of wire bonding as a key interconnection technology in the assembly of microelectronic devices
